Progress 31.05.2021

Okay... So yeah yesterday was the first release day of the 0.23.0 which mean there isn't exactly that much to show but it doesn't stop me from trying!

0.24.0 will be branching day between Li and the other branch, the narrative changes a bit depending which branch you were on and with the other branch you meet more demon hunters, or see. On the Li branch it's more peaceful. And without saying already rendering the day.

Writing is going, didn't really take that much break from it, so it's going well and hopefully by end of this branching I'm even more ahead than I am currently, which is on writing day 29. I really need to start taking that one day per update cycle just to write and ignore everything. Well easier said than done.

This isn't exactly a preview of the next update, for spoiler reasons obviously, those will resume on Friday. Instead, you get to meet Bruce and Tommy... yes I named the ogres as Bruce and Tommy cause reasons. Bruce you meet on day 27, he is the one with the beer.

Progress 28.05.2021

 

Man it's been a busy week, but getting there. 

0.23.0 is programmed in, doing the first round of spell checking today, and some additional testing. So once again it's waiting for the renders. 60'ish to go give or take.

Writing is... going? It's bit hard to gauge really, day 28 is done, just needing few edits to it so starting day 29 in a day or two to give my brain some time to rest.

Unfortunately, mac version is untested.

Update from 0.21.0 to 0.22.0 (296.9 MB)

Extract the files from the zip-file in to game folder and overwrite the gui.rpa, images.rpa and scripts.rpa.

If the file permissions are wrong on the Mac version and it won't run. To fix it, you need to open a terminal and run:

sudo chmod -R 755 /Applications/Sorcerer.app

Progress 24.05.2021

 

So much to do and so little time. Well not really, but feels that way. Anyway.
Rendering is on schedule, more or less. I have two fairly large scenes left to do and two smaller ones. Well it's bit relative anyway what constitutes small and what large. But yeah I'm somewhere on the internal schedule as far as render count goes, been jumping between scenes when I notice that somethings need few render or two to work better. But that's normal.
 
Writing, I hit a bit of a wall if I'm honest, section I'm writing doesn't feel right at the moment. I know what I want to achieve but that one small bit of how I do it hasn't gone in to place. But fear not, this is just a minor annoyance on my part, which I get sorted once I can do one or two inspirational renders about the scene in question.
 

This isn't inspirational render, this is part of the "main plot", and I've been messing around with my render settings, always need to try to improve some how, just occasionally it is more steps to the sides than forward with experimentation.
 
And no, you don't need to worry if I manage to make better looking renders somehow, I won't start remastering the beginning. Always finish what you are doing before even considering redoing earlier parts of it, since it is too easy to end in "remastering" hell and that doesn't serve anyone. Especially when you have 6000+ renders already.

Progress 21.05.2021

 

And welcome to the Friday edition of progress report.

So where am I at? Roughly half way with the renders, I'll say roughly because I added something, again, well I added it to the previous day so have to do some follow up with it  so need some renders for that as well. 

As for writing, most of day 28 is sorted, just need to mess around with the scene order a bit so can get most out of it.


Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later. This update is pretty much about Sabrina, she is in about 85% of the scenes. And if anyone else wondered about the dog...

He was found and returned to the owner....

Progress 17.05.2021

 

And it is time to return to the regular schedule, with a glimpse behind the scenes.

So rendering of the day 23 has started and on it's way. Nothing much to tell about that in all honesty other than it's going nicely.

Writing, that's on day 28, had to ensure that I have actually materials to make what I write, some changes going to happen since some of the stuff from the original script just doesn't exists in a form I want but nothing major. Adaptability is the keyword here. And now I need to figure out how to add more than 1 choice there but it's minor issue.

And as for the preview render... well... 

A lot of the background stuff is effect testing and scene testing, it's something I love to do for various reasons. Firstly it ensures I have the right things for what I'm doing. Secondly, inspiration, while that above image doesn't really have direct relation to Sorcerer some of the stuff have inspired me to write certain events differently than they originally were. 

Although, those wings weren't originally blue, they were normal yellow/orange flames. Which brings us to the third point, learning. Because I want the certain people have a specific theme with their effects I had to learn to use the image manipulation tools to make new textures, well edit the old ones anyway.

And then occasionally something this happens. It is usually a good indication that I need sleep when that seems a good idea. But as amusing as it is, it did spark an idea of something.

Changelog 0.20.0

 

Man, I'm tired, but it is here still on schedule, internal anyway. Okay, I'm building the final build and doing final test to make sure it works out side of development environment. And honestly I'm not sure about the length of this update, but that's because I've been through it so many times that I probably could recite all of the text from memory, while sleeping.

Changelog 0.22.0

  • Day 22 implemented
  • 426 Renders
  • Grammar and other fixes (Thanks to Adry Lemon, Shaddy Modda, Tora, Wolverine, Phaelan Hood, and Nevermind for pointing out that infernal issue with ellipsis should be sorted through the VN now, again.)

So the release: As usual as soon as it has been uploaded for $15 tier (few hours from now, net is being pain in the back side for reasons). For $10 it will be on Monday (17th of May) and $3 (19th of May) on Wednesday. Public week after so on 26th of May.

Quick update 14.05.2021

 

Yeah, so, those who are on the Discord knows that I had issue with some images yesterday which threw me off tracks for a bit. I have about 20 renders to do so not really making an official progress update as is since I'm relatively close for the update being done.

Other than that, the update has been programmed, tested, and proofread already so it's just sitting there and waiting the renders, and of course need to do the final testing after building the VN up.

Progress 10.05.2021

 

That was fairly productive weekend, and now I have about one and half scenes left to render. So we are getting there steadily. There are some post work to do still but I still have pile of renders to do.

Writing, day 28 has been started, just need to decide how I'm going to present the planned content in it to you guys, and do some testing on how heavy the certain scene elements are that I've planned to use.

And yes, we are finally opening the codex... and I probably should apologize in advance for making your brain hurt for what is to come. And now to continue everything I was doing.

Progress 07.05.2021

Progress has been smooth, probably would be surprising when it hasn't. And I wasn't entirely happy about the length of day 22 so I added a scene to it, or actually the scene add itself. It's bit weird how it went if we are honest. And I have 3 scenes and handful of "patch" rendering to do as forgot to render something that I should have to make a scene flow more better.
 
On writing side I'm starting on day 28 on this weekend, it's bit amusing how at the same time I like and dislike this workflow for writing. I need to think how I can keep the positive aspects of this but eliminate the negatives. Maybe add one or two pure writing days to each update cycle so I would always have steady  progress forward. Problem with that is there are days when the though process just isn't there for writing. But live and learn.

Progress 03.05.2021

 

Bah, electric company doing unannounced maintenance work so lost my previous post, 3 pages of text got corrupted for reasons, and scene I was working with got corrupted as they yanked the power mid save -.- So slightly annoyed at the moment.

Anyway. So rendering despite the above annoyance, I'm where I should be, had to render few support scenes since certain someone in their infinite wisdom decided write such scenes. Well unfortunately I can only blame myself for that ;)

Writing, I'm in the most annoying part of day 27, it has tons of moving parts and math to do so things goes either well or bad. But I should be able to sort that out in couple of days assuming no interruptions, then it is just few more scenes and day 27 is done.

And now Mei is fed up with certain person... Not the on the ground but the one who did this.
