Progress 30.07.2021

I feel like this update is cursed. Anyway, I was hoping I didn't need to make this post but alas, the luck just isn't with me this week at all, like power being knocked out for 5 hours yesterday due rather severe storm.

So where am I? 300 renders in and still need more, curse for certain someone allowing choices! But about one and half scenes left. I did say the remaining scene are longish. So I guess it is time to burn some midnight oil. But on positives, the day is coded in and I'll be doing the first grammar and spelling check today. Then I'll send the text for proofreading.

And then some more positivity, writing on day 32. Now bit notes of day 31, and bit reflection on day 29. Some of the choices regarding one character are I won't say misleading but you will gain more if you act like the MC has been generally. Just turn down the last offer if you aren't interest of the character in question.

Now then, the renders... Well some spoiler stuff this time.


This situation is entirely Kai's fault... Yeah let's go with that. And the MC's nightmares has come through, he has to drive a sports car! Now back to the render mines... not that I left it while writing this. And yes the lightning is correct on those two images, on the first one the buildings are intentionally blocking the sun, on the last one the room is facing west and the sun is setting.

Sorry for this update ending up taking longer than usual, not really happy about it but it takes the time it takes. And as always, those who has supported me this month will receive the links to the update in patreon inbox when it is time for their tier to get it.

Progress for 26.07.2021 and Public Release of 0.25.0

And once again we meet with progress... I'm about 2/3rd's through the script. Maybe 150 renders left to do? Maybe, that all depends on the flow of the scenes. Couple fairly larger scenes ahead but they are relatively simple to render, just takes time but that's nothing I can really control.

On writing side of things, I've been editing couple previous days that I've written already, simply to provide some more info on more natural way. These edits have been on days that haven't been made yet so no need to restart to see what you missed.

As for the render... well, once again I'm in middle of something that I don't really want to spoil. So...

Two images, almost the same, I prefer the night one as it makes the effects pop. Although, shouldn't have used the large moon as back drop but live and learn. So, testing and motivational stuff at the same time ;)

Progress 23.07.2021

 ... Those days when you have an idea but you cant actualize it because there are no sets, or assets that you can use to kitbash the required set. Sci-fi was so much easier, I mean it's just metal walls everywhere ;)

Anyway that's my problem to deal with. So how are things going? Decently, I've caught up the schedule more or less but still tons to do, which isn't exactly surprising either. So rendering is going smoothly, just need to figure out how to do the next bit set as said above.

Writing, it's going some days better some times not so much, but I'm mostly sorted the day 31 so it's good really, just need edit it somewhat.

And then it is time to have adventures in sewer... yay. Still I like the render quite lot.

Terminus Reach: Sentinel

 

Oh wow I didn't expect to use that title any time soon. So what's up with TRS?

New build, it still the version 1.0, same images, same plot and so on. But why the new build you ask? 

Well it has been proofread, there as been some edits made to the text to make it more clearer, name change has been enabled, not that it matters much, the bug fix was integrated and Shaddy's mod has been integrated to the build. The walkthrough can be toggled from the preferences.

Progress 19.07.2021

 

So first things first. I was asked if it would be possible to add $5 tier, well it is possible. So what does that mean to existing patrons? Nothing, the tiers will stay the same. There won't be a price hike for the $3 tier, and the tier will remain there like it has been. Anyway I'll sort it out in the next day or two, namely once I've done the scene I'm doing right now so I can render some portraits for the tiers.

And to the matters that actually matter ;) The progress.

Rendering, rendering is going decently, I'm bit behind of my internal schedule, by about 7 renders since I took it bit more easier over the weekend as didn't sleep that well last week due to the heat. But I'll be back on the schedule today or tomorrow. And yes, I'm fine, heat just drains my energy and makes me sluggish.

Writing, well it was release weekend so to say to that hampered a bit on the writing side but it's going well, surprisingly. Especially now that the weather is cooler, so hooray for that.

Ah poor MC, why it just couldn't be simple day at work for once... and yes the robes are tattered intentionally, no poke through's.

Changelog 0.25.0

Surprise? Or maybe not.

  • Day 25 implemented
  • 354 renders
  • Grammar, spelling, and few minor bugs fixed (thanks to Adry Lemon, Kaos, ShaddyModda, RayKeaneSky for spotting stuff)

So the schedule: $15 Tier as soon as it is uploaded (which should be couple hours from now), $10 on 17th of July and $3 on 19th of July. And public should be 26th of July, or there about.

Progress 12.07.2021

 

Monday and more progress. I have one scenes left to do, it is a bit large so it takes still some time but getting there, will be past 300 renders once again. Doing the first round of testing and spelling checks tomorrow

Anyway, writing, day 31, I'm not sure is there more to say that it has started, had some issues me being unhappy how couple things in day 30 played out so it's kind of relief to be working something more simpler in terms.

And then there is this... And yes, I'm aware that one of the feet are in the air, that's actually intentional in this case. Hopefully it makes bit more sense when the sequence is fully shown, if not eh, it's fast to render but that will be seen while doing testing.

Progress 09.07.2021

 

And then it is time for progress post.

The day is coded in, well it was coded already week ago so it's just the renders as always. And speaking of renders I'm over halfway done with them, so on schedule with them. Although I'm not entirely sure how I'll do two of the scenes as they are similar to each other, just different actors in them.

Writing day 30 is missing one or two pages to wrap it up sensible in sensible way, so starting day 31 soonish, just bit break from writing.

Encounters in alleyways, yeah, lots of alleys around in this update. Or in generally, but certain things need to be done somewhere more secluded.

Two years of VN making

 

Two year ago I made the decision that I would start making visual novels. On July 8th 2019 I started rendering Terminus Reach: Sentinel, my first visual novel. Year later, it was finished.
 
Compared to Sorcerer, TRS is rough around the edges, it was learning project. But make no mistake, I'm extremely proud of TRS. Despite it flaws it is an achievement, in many ways. That's not to say that Sorcerer is prefect, it's just less rough around the edges as I still learn how to do things.
 
And then, amusingly enough, on July 8th 2020 I started rendering Sorcerer, so it is an anniversary of sorts for two of my VN's at the same time. This past year of Sorcerer has been, interesting, it is the first time I've shared my incomplete works to the public, and frankly I didn't expect the support I've gained so far.
 
So where do we go from here? It hasn't been a secret that I'm doing sequel to Terminus Reach once Sorcerer is done. And beyond that there are already plans for the 4th one. After that? Who knows, 5th if people still want, maybe 6th as well. That is something that time will tell.
 

Garrett and Chiel will always have special place in my heart, and it was only fitting that they were the first characters that had their visual made. That isn't to say all the other characters aren't special.
So here is for 2 years! And for more stories to come. And now back to rendering 0.25.0 ;)

Progress 05.07.2021

And thus has the weekend has passed, and it is time to write stuff about how things are going.

Rendering wise I'm right where I need to be, there are couple larger scenes ahead that I'm not entirely sure how many renders I need to make as they are bit more complex posing wise. Bu over all, still on internal schedule.

Writing was mostly productive over the weekend and I'm confident that it will be finished by this weekend. But now that I've said it I'm fairly certain that there will be constant interruptions. But such is life. 

And now... hmm, I'm having some troubles on what to show you guys here, as I'm doing things that I don't really want to spoil ahead. And MC walking down on some alley or another isn't exactly THAT interesting to see. So I'll give you a glimpse of things that is to happen in near future.

This stuff is for day 26, clothes included. Although our dear MC might be tad over dressed for the occasion.

And as for this? Well, when you are writing you are only limited by your imagination. When translating those writing into images you are limited with models that are available. And well, frogs, they fit the role that was needed.

And yes the lightning is off, but I was testing how heavy the environment and character is with this.

Progress 02.07.2021

 

So what I'm doing? Obvious answer would be typing this, which I am, but rendering more importantly. And it really shouldn't be that big of a surprise when I say that day 25 is under way, and on the internal schedule.

Writing is going to places, new people to meet, new problems and solutions. Mostly fire for the latter >.> Anyway, yeah writing is on schedule as well, not that it exactly that hard to derail from the schedule either as long as I have certain amount of days sorter.

So overall the flow is going smoothly and the update is coming along nicely enough.

Raw, pre-post image, so yes I'm aware of the "claw marks" on the wall that shouldn't be there but are because of reasons. And yeah, new clothes for Eva, I figured she deserve another set of clothes because about everyone else have multiple sets as well.
