Progress 28.04.2023

 

So it is Friday, and progress post time.

Okay, there is an issue with comments, it seems I can't respond to them for some reason or other, but rest assured, I will read them.

So let's go with rendering. It's going alright. I need more renders than I anticipated, so it is taking a bit longer than I wanted. But I should be handing out update 30 to testing and proofing today.

And after that, I'll finish writing 34 over the weekend, hopefully.

Kind of short today, granted. There isn't that much to say since things are mostly good. And by mostly, I mean the rendering, but yeah. And I think I'll skip the update 30 previews. Some spoiler stuff left. Thus... hmm, the conclusion of the staff saga, not that it wasn't predictable how it would end. But before that...

At times a more modern version isn't better; in this case, the "meteors" the upper is a new version. It's okay, but the following is better, in my opinion. Needs some tweaking but that's is something to do when in production. And yes, an undead dinosaur.

Progress 24.04.2023

Hello good people! It is Monday, and time for a quick glance I did over the weekend.
 
Rendering. I'm more or less on schedule. Technically, I'm a bit ahead at the moment, but that will balance out as the last scene will be annoying to pose once again. But on the positive... I was going to say I didn't need to build sets for this one, but I did. Ah well.
 
Writing, on the other hand, is in decent shape. The most annoying part at the moment is that towards the end, more and more events depend on your choices. And some of those choices can exclude you from seeing some content. And then I need to ensure there are enough "things that aren't related to choices" so the length is more or less the same for everyone. Well, that's on me. Anyway.
In a sense, this VN has been different from TRS1 because there have been more screen time for different characters. Chiel is there, but at the same time, she isn't there as much in comparison. Or at least it feels like that, so at times. You need to steal those moments... Frankly, I like this render. It reminds me of the bond they have.

And then there is this... I did say there were several ways to get a staff. This isn't what I had in mind when I started making this mini-story. But like all the stories, be they long or short, they will take life on their own. And one thing leads to another. So I suppose it is good that the MC grew up in an environment where he could make friends who understand nature and its denizens better than him. And yes, she is a halfling dryad, and no, at the moment, I can't say if she will appear in the story as is. I know when I get to write it. Also, it ended up being longer than I wanted. 6 left after this patch, unless I decided to add more.

Progress 21.04.2023

 

And good Friday to you all. I think it should be Friday in most parts of the planet... anyway.

I'll start rolling out update 29 next week, hopefully on Tuesday. About there, give or take. My net connection has been annoying, to say the least, in the past few weeks or so. But that's nothing new going toward the summer. 

So update 30? Rendering is on schedule, not that I exactly have one, but I'm still more or less where I want it to be with it.

And as for writing, this is again a complete shock, but it's also about where I want it to be. Sure, I'm one and a half pages behind my goal, but I haven't written today yet.



At best, this is a minor spoiler: the acting Fleet Admiral talking with the UEC ambassador and his staff. Now, the interesting parts happen after a handful of these renders...

And as for the character I wanted to introduce. Her name is Shani, and as you can see, she is a fairy. When I name characters, I start with a meaning that comes to mind when I create or look at the created character. Then I either look for names related to that meaning or create random names. But when I see the name, I know it is the right name for the character. In her case, it ended up as Shani, and frankly. I like it, it might not be a "traditional" name for a fairy, but... that shouldn't be anything new for me. Yes, she is familiar looking to some of you. However, while I liked the character in the original form, I didn't have a role in the original form. It wasn't until I plotted down the first "episode" that she didn't have a role in it, but now she does.

Staff is one of the more important tools for the mages. It helps them to focus the magical energies, acts as a weapon, and helps you to stay up after more draining spells. Getting one, well... either you are given one, inherit one, buy one, or... you make one. Tomas originating from a farm doesn't put him in the position for the first three options. But making one might be more hazardous to one's health in more than one way. There are a few more renders about this thing overall

Progress 17.04.2023

 

Yay... it's Monday. Totally can feel the enthusiasm there.

I'm rendering update 30. Not that surprising, I reckon. It's a bit slow at the moment, lots of people to posed and black color. I like black, blue, certain greens, and a few shades of red, but positioning two black surfaces together is sometimes tricky with Daz's default settings.

As for writing, it's unsurprisingly on update 34. I'll continue writing after today's render quota or during the rendering. It depends on how it goes.

And now... since people have had the chance to play 28... I can give some renders from 29 (and 30).

This is from 29... I wonder what is happening when Nadia and Natalie are ordering the main character to leave...

And this is right at the start of update 30, morning discussions. See what I mean about the black color? Lot's of it in the image. And because of how black interacts with light, it's easy to have the characters floating despite seemingly putting them in contact with the surface.







Man, there is a lot to talk about this chain... why do I have a feeling that I need to make about 50 behind-the-scenes posts to explain a lot of things? Anyway. There is a difference in power between people and what kind of magic they are using. The color of magic circles and other effects indicate what type of magic the person is casting. At the start of the image sequences, the MC was using fire magic, intending to summon a fire elemental, but something went wrong. The demon, in turn, is banished with blood magic. Although, alongside demonic and necromancy, it is one of the forbidden schools of magic in the civilized world.

I was going to save this image for Friday, but... I'll make a portrait of the character I've introduced then. And something more. Anyway. They will watch until the main character wakes up and know he isn't under demonic influence. If he would be... well, he wouldn't live long after that.

Progress 14.04.2023

 

So, it is Friday, and that means a progress post.

Update 29 has been rendered and sent for testing and proofreading. And that's about it. Shortest progress post ever. And that means I'll write the next couple of days and start rendering update 30 on Monday.

I've reached the point where I need to name the new setting. Naming is one of the things I don't like doing. Especially when it is part of the titles since you need to ensure you don't infringe other creations, at least too much. Well, I'll work on it... Anyway. Once I figure out the name, I'll probably make galleries from these backstories.

Yeah, things didn't go as planned. Unlike in Shattered Seals, where Tamara was more or less friendly, demons in this setting aren't. They will deceive you to get their freedom and then kill you. So this will be a warning if and when you encounter demonic creatures within the next story. Somethings don't have happy endings...

There are 14 renders in this series in total, and the final one... I reveal a character in there. Note! Some things are still subject to change. The character itself will be there, but in that final render, a couple of "artistic choices" were made to ensure things were seen properly.

Progress 10.04.2023

Assuming everything goes as planned, the release cycle will start at some point tomorrow (hopefully). Upload is being ehh... could be better, but it could also be worse. Much worse.

As for update 29? Sunday was a bit pain in the backside, I noticed that the scene I wanted to do wasn't working, so I had to adapt the scene to a different environment. Annoying, but happens. 

And due to that, I didn't get to write on Sunday, but it's still in alright condition overall. I'm good with it.

Heh yeah... It's a weird feeling, but luckily I can resume showing things on Friday... err... no, the following Monday. Dang, it. The release cycle would still be going till Saturday. Ah well. Fantasy background story stuff...

The life of a mage isn't easy. Especially when you are in training. There are several trials they need to pass. All of them are more or less lethal. Some are done alone, and some are under supervision because the potential results could be devastating.

Well... there is something coming out of this. Not entirely sure how I've decided to tackle this one yet, but it might be something interesting and not necessarily that good. Or not. Maybe I will decide to use butterflies. To be seen... But that being said, I recon I show some of these trials. At least the ones aren't that reliant of the story.

Progress 07.04.2023

 

So, update 28 next week. Net has been a pain in the backside for the past week. So I'm not giving out the exact date, but it will be out next week.

The rendering of 29 is going nicely overall. There are a couple longer scenes ahead but nothing too drastic.

Writing is also in okay shape overall. I think I'm one page from where I want to be, and I haven't written today yet.


So doing some fantasy stuff to avoid spoilers... these two are mostly test renders. One is for the environment and the... tentacle blob thing in the sky, and the other is to test the texture quality of the tiger. On hindsight, should have used daytime sky. Ah well.

And then... happy Easter.

Progress 03.04.2023

 

And good Monday to you all.

So the usual stuff, I started writing 33 and rendering 29. And... that's about it for the progress. Proofreading is in progress. And I need to read what I wrote for 31 to 32. Memory is a bit hazy, too much sleep.

Hmmm... rescue party? Maybe, or maybe not.

I am still haven't decided on the familiar. Truth be told, I'm debating between a panther, a falcon, and a snake. The latter is conditional on whether there is one (by the time I start production), or can I get someone to make one... or learn how to make it myself, again. Anyway, that's about it for today. More on Friday.
