Progress 31.1.2022

 

Monday... I admit, I wanted to keep sleeping this morning cause my bed was so comfy. But alas! I still have work to do.

So where are we at? I'm somewhere where I'm supposed to be after a week of rendering, but I'm not exactly happy since I had hoped to be bit further ahead than I am. But I'm still on the schedule I set for myself never the less.

So visiting Mei comes after Zoey.

TRS writing is going fairly decently, I have to take a break from it to make couple "extra" scenes for the epilogue, simply because if I would forget those characters... well... there would be riots. But I never forgot them, always meant to make them. Just how to frame those scenes was open until 5 minutes ago.

There are a few characters who appear in the epilogue, but don't get a scene of their own as is, there is a logical reason why though. And while I'm the author and I could make them appear, for couple of them I would be breaking the rules of the setting, which is a never a good thing to do as the rules are what keeps the setting "realistic". And frankly, without established rules and limits writing would be so much poorer.

Progress 28.01.2022

 

Yay progress.

So... I got the pain in the backside part of the epilogue done and now the renders are flowing quite nicely. Still have a lot to do which shouldn't be too surprising considering of the amount characters I have.

And foot rub for Zoey, well maybe, but for some reason that seems to be bit a theme in this update.

Writing TRS2 is going nicely once again, getting used to the new rhythm for most parts, still not used for things being quite though. Anyway, day 3 on the way, hoping to be around day 5 or day 6 before I start rendering, if not, well need to see how it goes.

Progress 24.01.2022

 

Heeey... been interesting weekend overall.

So the epilogue, renders are being done for most parts, it's bit slow since due how my mind works I have proceed in certain order, which means lots of saving and loading which slows things down.  Not to mention posing and making some variants, luckily since this first bit is kind of the "traditional epilogue slide show with a twist" there are no huge image sequences, that's for the latter part of the update. 

Anyway so it's going working on it as I type this. So all is good with that.

Terminus writing is also going, not as well as I'd hoped but release time is always hectic, still I'm finishing up day 2 and moving to day 3 soon. Hardest part writing is when I have to decide how to introduce the people that Garrett (the MC) knows from the first game, especially so it would feel natural. Outside of Chiel, writing her is natural thing.

This is one of the epilogue splash screens. The Fiery Fangs still doing what they do best. And yes one the demons arms is a tentacle.

So the epilogue is left after this, it will be another that will take some time to make as it will be as large, if not larger than this episode. The screens for good endings will come at the end of the epilogue. Or I should be more precise, those that don't get the MC killed instantly.

Progress 21.01.2022

I wasn't going to make this post, but then I thought, why not? You guys deserve to know what is going on. Sound ominous doesn't it? But not to worry!

The update, it's being proofread and tested so the rendering and coding is done and the release will be soon, relatively speaking, and assuming there isn't nothing too game breaking going on. I played it through punch of times last night, but I'm the maker and I admit it, I'm blind to my own work because I know how it is supposed to be.

Anyway that's the important bits I recon. I was going to rant about the lack of matching sci-fi clothing sets, but it's just probably my head. I can explain all of that stuff away fairly easily. And there is a reason for 5 years time skip between TRS1 and TRS2 (title pending). And had another rant about clothing and "non standard body styles" but again it's something I can work around.

She is one of the new characters seen in the next Terminus Reach VN. Her name is Carmella.

Progress 17.01.2022

 

I'm going slightly mad... well not so slightly anymore, fairly certain I'm completely bonkers by now. The final scene, doing all the variants is doing my head in, but! I shall endure. I have three variants left to do, well less, maybe two and half,  anyway took me longer than I anticipated to get to the point where I split the branches, because I wanted the sequence before that look bit more, I don't know... fitting? Eh, good enough word.

And I'm closing in on 500 renders.  Around 450 at the moment, but that has few render fixes in it so give or take. That and I realized I need to do some sort of aftermath scene for more smoother transition, well that is written so not much of a problem there.

So yeah will take still a bit longer, not that I'm happy with it it but renders take the time they take, and I didn't want to break just before the "conclusions" or do Gorgons first then Fiery fangs as the separation isn't large enough. Or so I thought.

Anyway, still rendering, trying to work as fast as I can.

As for Terminus, day 2 is underway, maybe about 3rd of it is done, which is decent for a weekends writing over all.  Especially when I need to remind myself to write "Garrett" instead of "Alexander" in the script. And look up all the names I've used before, been a while.

And then... Sabrina is in trouble...

Progress 14.01.2022

 

Good gods what I have got myself into now?

And that line requires bit more explanation I recon. So image first!

Yeah there are 15 figures in that image, posing them is pain in the backside. And funny thing is even though it is irritating I still plan doing more of them... eventually. For now that amount is enough, especially when all of them are moving.  So yeah, there were two of those scenes. Well rendering itself didn't take that much time, it was the posing that took the time. Still was it worth it? Personally yes.

And that being said, I have there are three scenes left to render, although the largest of them has like 4 variants. So there is still lots of rendering and posing to make.

As for the writing, day 2 is underway for the next TR. The first few days are bit weird as have to give some background information what has happened between TR:S and this one. And open couple threads to follow. But that's just writing really.

And then looking the Gorgon's side... yeah. Truthfully, I was unsure would I be able to make these scenes. But in the end, despite them being completely pain in the backside to make, it was worth it.

Progress 10.01.2022

 

Ahoy-hoy. And thus it is Monday and there shall be a progress post.
 
Rendering, well totally shocking that it is still going on relatively smoothly. Code line wise I'm halfway there, about, but that isn't exactly accurate by any means at the moment, due to variations and lot of images that goes with them.
 
And that being said, I have some hardware maintenance to tomorrow or Wednesday so it slows stuff bit down, but it will be worth it in the end.
 
On Terminus side of things writing is going nicely, final touches on the first day and then onward to day two.
 
 
Oriana's turn to do stuff. And I just realized that I need a new variant of this scene, ah well. Well I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Ah well, it isn't like there is two variants of this scene already, so what is a third?

Progress 07.01.2022

Man the time flies. This has been a bit rough week, and it isn't going to ease up. Right so, I'm on schedule when it comes to rendering the thing more or less anyway. There are a lot of images to do since it is action heavy day, plus the variants. I think one of the scenes has three variants alone. That's probably good 60 renders on it's own, maybe.
 
Anyway, I have few issues with day 37. It's mostly the lack of choices. There are some in there but they can be negated choices that were made ages ago, thus you may never see them. But at the same time, forcing a choice to a place where it doesn't belong, or matter, is just adding a choice for sake of a choice. So it is a bit of a conundrum.
 
On the Terminus side of things, writing things for it has been enjoyable overall, and it's going decently. I should be able to finish up most of the first day by Monday, so it looks like that I might be able to get decent enough buffer for it before I start rendering it.
 

And Ragnar and Bruce (and Wayne, just missed him) are back! I need to adjust the tone mapping a bit on this series as it is bit dark over all but that's why image editing software exists. This is one of those scenes that has... not so great alternative scenes if you chose certain way. I hated making it but it needs to be there.
 
And yes, Bruce's feet is a bit floaty, but that's because his other feet is planted firmly on the ground, that particular walking pose was bit weird on him. And as usually I noticed it about 20 renders in and not sure did I save the scene. Ah well ;)

Progress 03.01.2022

New year... and same tradition of progress posts.

Where are we at? I started rendering the day 37 couple days ago, not that it is anything too surprising, so it's going. And that being said, this update will probably take bit longer to make than the usual. Simply because there are so many variations I need to do thanks to all those choices I allowed you to take ;)
 
And partially because of that, there are few scenes that won't be pleasant to make so it will affect my mood somewhat. Which can mean I might not be as responsive as I normally are, or not depends on those days.
 
And on the more lighter side of things, Terminus Reach, the script is on it's way and hopefully I have decent enough buffer when I start making the renders. Other than that, still adding stuff to the epilogues when I remember what I missed or when I get an idea that works for it.
Final preparations so to say, before the bodies starts to pile up.
