Progress 24.05.2024

So Monday and progress stuff.

Started rendering update 0.18.0, it's going... okay, I'd say. Some posing annoyances and what not, but as usual, it will be done.

As for writing, it's on 0.22.0 so things going decently on that side as well. Can't complain.

Now since at the moment there would be huge spoilers I'll won't post a game render until Friday when I've moved past the more spoilery stuff. Instead...

Familiars. Every mage has them, you've seen three so far, but overall almost anything can be a familiar, depending on the gods of magic whims (any of them). But there can be problems with them, at times hunters don't know better and try to harm mages familiar. Not a smart idea. A lot of time, channelling magic to a familiar can heal its wounds, and it doesn't matter from who the magic comes. Just having more than one mage doing it can be helpful, the fairly already depleted hers by trying to heal the rabbit. And don't worry, the rabbit will be fine. Can't say as much for the hunter in the ice block...

Progress 21.06.2024

Hello all!

Friday and things are happening... at least when I wake up enough. The update is uploading, about halfway there with it, but there are the usual caveats during summer.

And that means I'll write the few pages I have left of 21, get some extra sleep and then start doing update 0.18.0 on Monday. So business as usual, I suppose.

This is... I was trying to create a titan, kind of succeeded and then I decided to put her into a render that happened during the mercenary years. Worked well enough. Now I just need to remember how I did the skin and make a male counterpart. Just in case I need either of them in the future. Although... Yeah... might work. Anyway. Have a great weekend you all!

Progress 17.06.2024

Hello all!

It is Monday, and that means a progress post once again. Rendering has gone smoothly, not that the render count will be high with this one as is. Text length is the same as usual, depending a bit of one choice you can make regardless of your relation to Maevra. However, I'm not happy about how the update ends. Technically, the next three, this one included, has an ending that I'm not entirely happy, but the problem is that no matter what I do during the next three updates, it would always be a "bad" time to end it. Luckily, the wait isn't that long between the updates. Assuming no complications.

Writing in other hand is in good condition, and once I've done rendering, I'll keep writing.

I'm happy with this render and how the effects came to be. In a sense I'm happy with the following ones although they are slightly ridiculous, but hey magic. The final image of this whole scene is intentionally bit darker than this. The moon got hidden behind clouds. That's my excuse. But seriously speaking it made more sense to make it slightly darker than this. Although it's always amusing how much snow (or generally the white colour) reflects light and make things brighter than they should be. Ah well. Anyway back to working, got some post work and coding to do among other things...

Progress 14.06.2024

Hello all!

Meh. Annoying week overall. I'm slightly behind from where I want to be with rendering, not badly in relation to the script. Set building took way too long, and last-minute annoyance with the cold weather clothing. Honestly, I can't be thankful enough for putting the "heat stone" concept in several updates ago. But I'll be where I need to be with the renders. Although there is a slight delay with them next week because of some things I need to do. But alas, that's life. Regardless, thing will get done as always.

Writing is going okay, I'm... mostly happy with it despite needing to add few things in the script of update 20, now just need to sort the trip to the further north out and then we can go back to the empire for a bit. Our protagonist is a busy man...

So then... a preview of things to come. Didn't need to build the "magical cave" I needed after all, some clever camera angles and blocking few places where external light could come in. In all honesty, it was a blessing, especially after yesterday's issues. Anyway, lighting it has been... interesting. And the first scene where all the current main cast is an on screen at the same time. And yes, Nisha is there as well, just hidden behind Malgrin.

And then there is this. This just popped into my head last night, and just wanted to get it out, mostly for my amusement. Anyway, have a great weekend

Progress 10.06.2024

Hello all!

So uploading happening, net has been slightly pain but it should be done relatively soon, I hope. Hopefully, it's a bit later today. But that's assuming there isn't a sudden storm that knocks out my power or net. But should be done tomorrow the latest.

Writing has moved to 21 once I actually sit down and write, that is. Not entirely happy about how 20 rolled out, it's all there, but I'm not happy about the pacing at the moment. But I'll sort it out once I render it.

Beyond that, the rendering of 0.17.0 has started. Although it took a while to get it started properly, lighting a scene so you can see something while being "realistic" can be a tad pain in the backside.

A bit more orcs, it's a short scene at the start of the update to show the supply delivery. We don't linger with them too long. And this is the render I was talking about. I like the "realistic" version better, but you wouldn't be able to see much in it. Also, this is a "day time" render. It's just raining, so it's dark.

Then just something to put me in right mood, been annoying day for most parts so. Something to make things a bit better. Also amusingly, didn't notice it before. Miki's kimono does have a blue dragon on it. Anyway, back to rendering and uploading. That and rebooting the router again since the speed went to crawl.

Progress 07.06.2024

Hello all!

Update 0.16.0 was handed to testing and proofreading. And thus I'll write the weekend and start rendering 0.17.0 on Monday, technically...

This is a test for the update 0.17.0. This is the stuff I do between writing sprees, or should I say inspiration. A lot of renders from 0.17.0 to 0.18.0 will be more night time renders. Why? Well snow and day light don't mix that well. At least unless I want to blind everyone. The environment isn't perfect, but you shouldn't see this much of it as is the cameras in the "production" renders will be closer. But even if it wouldn't be the case, post work fixes things.

And then let's go to somewhere warmer... There have been images in this "series" before. During these renders, I spin potential stories and their elements in my mind. At times certain directions become more clear. And amusingly enough, the parts that might come clear might not have anything to do with the render. In this case, it has something to do with it. I'm not sure it will feature this environment as is, but signs do point there. It would make the most sense. But that is something I concern myself with once I've written the next three or four updates.

Progress 03.06.2024

Hello all!

So what's up? Rendering is in a good state, about two scenes left to do so I'm happy with it as is considering interruptions during the weekend.

As for writing? It's also in okay shape, and once I've rendered everything I take the usual couple of days to write and it's sorted.

And then the group is back together... doing stuff. There are couple of time skips again, but shouldn't be anything too distracting. Although amusingly, I think this is the longest game (setting time wise) that I've done. In universe it has been couple of months since the start. Not entirely sure of that at the moment. But at the same time, the time doesn't exactly matter as is. There are events that are tied to time, and some just might start to appear around update 20? Not entirely sure of that timing but that's why I do have the timeline and notes... just should use them more often instead of going by memory.

And hooray for motivational renders! No? Okay then. I had an idea and wanted to see can I do it. Yeah, I could, need few tweaks, like something to the background to obstruct the view more. But overall it came out right. Except... for one thing now that I think about it. Well there is always the next time...
