Progress 29.07.2022

Can't write today apparently, at least anything sensible. But let's try anyway!

And totally shockingly rendering of Update 12 is on it's way, not entirely sure how long it will take to render at this stage since the script is almost double the size of normal script. But I should be more wiser on next Friday.

Writing of the Update 15 is under way. And now I need to start steering everything towards the conclusion, feels strange in a sense. I've known how TRS2 ends for ages, I know the events leading to it, just need to tie them up in a neat bundle somehow. Interesting to see really.

Actually it's something I've thought over recently, and I probably need to show more of the opposing side in the coming updates as well, just to give you the sense of the time table. Anyway...

I like this render, don't know why but it just nice over all. And yes, Garrett is finally in proper uniform...

Public Release: TRS2 Update 10

Tested and played through a few times, all the saves worked. But that  doesn't mean things didn't slip by. So as always, if there are any issues please report them on discord (https://discord.gg/GJK5kfKypg).

As said in the changelog, I had a weird rollback thing happen with one of the saves, but the game progressed normally. But there were no errors, so ren'py being ren'py I guess. Anyway the links.

EDIT: Apparently somethings I fixed didn't stay fixed. During one of the scenes Nadia uses the variable instead of MC's name. There is a fix to it: https://mega.nz/file/L7JmHCBT#CyAjhU7pftQWay80m3mhK7MBoQU2Qq7AYfGHvKEbYLM
Drop it in the /game folder and let it override the scripts.rpa. Note, Shaddy's mod contains this fix already.

Progress 25.07.2022

So where are we at on this... slightly cloudy Monday? Yes, I was outside earlier.

Well... I basically have 1 and 1/4 scenes left to render, technically. Why technically? Simply because it is one scene but has two different segments of sorts. So, rendering is going well, so far anyway.

As for writing? It's going. I'm about a page from finishing it up, as I have had some sleeping issues over the weekend, so been a bit tired. And no, nothing to worry about, as it is normal. I'll just take a nap, and I'm good.

So this render isn't anything spectacular as is. But it speaks to me, so to say, with its simplicity. No, the choice isn't difficult in this case. He just needs to think for a bit.

Progress 22.07.2022

And good day to all of you, I hope.

So, things are going as you would expect really at this point. Rendering is roughly at the halfway point. There haven't been any major issues to deal with outside of the norm of Daz being a pain occasionally, but that's nothing new.

And on the writing side of things. It's actually going well. Update 14 is... interesting, to say the least. It's a bit jumpy because it isn't that interesting to write travel time or render, for that matter. There are some location skips happening to show what happens elsewhere in the meantime.

So, I was struggling a bit with what I should show here. I mean, I do have renders that are safe to show without spoiling things, and there was one particular set of renders I wanted to show. But I think it is best to save that particular scene for the VN.

And then, for fun, the Kread event is happening in the next update, and it consists majority of it. So, I have to find more suitable clothing for people, and unsurprisingly SciFi style party clothes are about non-existent. So have to use what I can, and hopefully, it looks fitting.

Progress 19.07.2022

Heh, this was supposed out yesterday, but it took a while to get a render that wasn't spoiling things for those of you who haven't been able to play update 10 yet.

So, as you can guess by now, renders are being done, there isn't anything huge obstacles coming at the moment as far as I know, 99% of the sets are done that I need for update 11.

Writing is going, I'm on target to finish update 14 by the end of the week, give or take. And I should be able to catch up once I start doing update 12. And probably bit more with update 14 as it's... interesting.

So all in all, work is being done...

This image isn't related to anything that happens in Update 11, so no spoilers here really. Just... a mystery? It's funny how we associate certain color with temperature, adding bit blue makes it feel colder. Only thing that would make it even more would be showing breath, but... this might be one of those sets that I end up close to my VRAM cap.

Progress 15.07.2022

Meh, I'm late. This week has been a bit of pain, thunder, and some power outages, so I'm about 12 hours behind where I want to be. But never the less, I should be able to get the proofreading build made tonight.

So we go with rendering. About 30 renders left, give or take a few. Rendering doesn't take any longer than usual, so it's mostly the posing that eats time.

Writing is in a weird place once again. I'm where I want to be with it, but kind of not? If that makes any sense. There is "mini branching" of sorts happening at the moment, so it makes things interesting. And update 14 is when the gloves come off as there are few events planned that lead to a game over. However! These events are linked to choices that happen during the update, so there is no "OMG! I MESSED UP A CHOICE 10 UPDATES AGO!"- moments.

I need to start making more concept art that isn't spoiler again. But then again, I have all the races and characters done that I want to add at the moment. And funnily enough, this render is the least spoiler thing I can show... And not that interesting... maybe ;) And that is a cryo container.

Progress 11.07.2022

So, it is Monday, thus time for progress.

Rendering is going well, as I have a few scenes left. The render count isn't going to be huge for this update simply because there aren't many sequences that require a ton of renders. But there are as many renders as the story segments needs.

Writing. I was right with my estimate that update 13 would be done by the end of the week. Shocking, I know, as if I've done this before. But joking aside, I was happy with it, and this update verified my working routine going forward.

Hmm... once again, I'm starting to run out of things that I can show without giving spoilers. Perhaps... this.

Nadia has been featured a lot in this and previous updates. And she continues to be more visible overall because a telepath is needed. But going forward few others will also be more in front, depending what the scene needs.

Also, a quick note about the character models. As said in the comment in the previous progress report, or one before that. Anyway. As I said, I have no problems using minor characters in major roles in other VNs. And that I try to avoid using major characters back to back.

There is a caveat to this. Certain character types don't have alternatives. For example, the troll I used for Gertrud and Helga. There are no female troll models outside of that, I can alter them slightly, but it doesn't always work. Pure humans are easier to morph to look different, but at times... well, results can vary.

Progress 08.07.2022

So progress... hmmm. Stuff is going on decently.

Okay... rendering. I'm about halfway through the script, and there are a couple of complex scenes ahead. It is going to be interesting making those. But beyond a few scenes, I had to optimize no significant issues with rendering overall. Granted, a big portion of avoiding those issues is certain flexibility with writing.

And speaking of writing. It's on schedule, surprisingly enough. And assuming the rest of the week goes the same way, I'm done on Sunday. But I probably jinxed that so. Nevertheless, I'll start writing update 14 next week, way before I'm done rendering, so I'm happy with it.

And this image. The glass shader is a bit problematic here. It was still noisy after 5000 iterations on a few tests I did afterward on another graphics card. I'm not sure what I do with it yet, but I'll see once the renders overall are done.

Progress 04.07.2022

And good Monday to all of you! Yeah, I'm bit cheerful mood since the weather isn't trying to cook me alive at the moment.

I had fairly productive weekend over all, outside of the release which did the usual dampening on writing as making the builds and testing them eats bit time. But! Regardless I'm on the schedule with writing and I'll finish the Update 13 by the end of the week.

And then we go to rendering, started it, and it's going relatively smoothly, bit slowly, but there are lots of glass ware in the render so translucency and reflections so but it isn't bad as is. And noticed an error in about 15 renders, luckily I don't need to rerender any of them as just as spot render fixes the error.

So over all? I'm happy how things are going.

This is one of the images that has the error. Yeah the gas cylinders are floating, but there are couple of ways to fix it. Easiest is to add small platform underneath them and spot render it then fix it in post, and that was my solution for it.

Changelog: TRS2 Update 9

Changelog: Update 9

  • Day 9 implemented
  • 334 renders
  • Grammar, spelling, and other fixes (Thanks to Adry Lemon, Shaddy, and BryonSmothers3DX, Bread_, To Begin With, ThunderRob, Psycotik)

In a sense I enjoy making things when there aren't tons of variations to do, there is a sense of progress when you don't need to do the same scene 2 or 3 times in a short period of time. Although without variations render count tends to be relatively low. But it also depends on a few other things. And yes, this build has been proofread. Anyway...

And now the release schedule.

Release schedule:

  • $15-Tier: 3rd of July 2022 (aka as soon as stuff is uploaded and links verified)
  • $10-Tier: 5th of July 2022
  • $5-Tier: 6th of July 2022
  • $3-Tier: 7th of July 2022
  • Public: 14th of July 2022

Public Release: TRS2 Update 8

Tested and played through a few times, all the saves worked. But that  doesn't mean things didn't slip by. So as always, if there are any issues please report them on discord (https://discord.gg/GJK5kfKypg).

Progress 01.07.2022

Hmmm, Friday, and it means progress post.

Well this is fairly simple to do, rendering? Done. Update 9 is rendered at this moment. So what next? Converting images, testing, sending it to proofreading, and external testing since I'm bound to miss things. Now there are a couple caveats to this, proofreader might be busy this coming weekend so I might, note might, release it without proofreading, depends. And thunder storms. The past week temperatures have been around +30 (celcius) which usually translates into thunderstorms at some point, which according to the forecast is Sunday. And since I'm not too keen breaking my system... But I'll keep you folks posted, and if it comes to that I'll adjust release schedules or something.

So... writing.... hmm. It's on schdule I've set myself, and while I wait for the proofing and testing to be done, I'll prep for day 10 and mostly write over the weekend with some rendering.

And since we are closeish to release... no more spoilers. But a concept. I've mentioned it before but creating male aliens is bit pain, mostly because there isn't as big variety with skins. Luckily can always swap the UV, but even then, skins for females are limited as, so it mostly works if need to make both genders for singular alien species.

Progress 22.11.2024

Hello all! Friday... I'm sleepy. No, I've slept relatively decently this week. Anyway, so what's up? I'm putting making the ...
