Progress 31.05.2024

Hello all!

Friday and progress post. Yay. Render count wise I'm not entirely happy about how it is, but I'm in relation to the script I'm where I'm supposed to be. So it's one of those things, a lot of set building to do it eats time, especially when things don't go as you planned. That and unstable weather. Bleh. Anyway.

As for writing? It's in okay shape, been prototyping something I need for 0.19.0 so that has eaten a bit of time, and still will eat some time but it's okay it will be done on time as always.

So what is this? New clothes? Yes, well... things might have not gone as planned so new plans! Although as much as I like the new clothes on Tomas, they aren't here to stay as is. I have... issues that I need to solve before I even think of using them for other than a few renders. Anyhow, that's about it for today. Have a great weekend you all!

Progress 27.05.2024

And good Monday to all of you! A bit later than usual but that's nothing new...

So release cycle started yesterday as my net actually worked fine. That's the positive news. And let's continue with some more positive news, rendering of 0.16.0 has started as has writing of 0.20.0. Well if you can call writing one line starting it but that's just for now, I'll write more later when it cools down a bit.

And this is... following morning talks after the 0.15.0. Just light breakfast with few people. Shani is still sleeping as is Satya and Riya. Rielle sneaked out to steal some wallets... or maybe not.

And then something that was said, and I had to look up it. Then I wanted to see can I do something similar... eh not quite but close enough for my brain. Probably work some more with it when I get some time.

Public Release: Tribulations of a Mage 0.14.0

 Tested and played through it a few times, and all the saves worked. But that doesn't mean things didn't slip by. So, as always, if there are any issues, please report them on Discord if possible. That way, I notice them quicker. https://discord.gg/GJK5kfKypg

KNOWN ISSUES: Certain choice at the end of update 0.13.0 can cause you entering a loop (similar style "whops you died" as sorcerer allowing to continue, just slight issue in current build, already fixed for 0.15.0). Loading a save before choosing do you take the potion or not fix it (and choosing the other option you didn't previously) or using the debug screen to swap the variable (it's clearly marked). Typo slipped through and upload sizes are quite large to do full build updates for a minor issue that can be fixed in a couple of ways in the game already.
 

While I was able to run through it fine, one of the testers save got bugged. In the final build he was able to play through fine as well. This is just a head ups that things might get messy for no good reason. Usually loading slightly older save will fix things. Sorry for both of the issues.

Progress 24.05.2024

Hello all!

Friday, and progress post time! Update 0.15.0 has been handed to testing and proofreading. And that means I'll write the weekend for most parts and start rendering 0.16.0 on Monday. Luckily just writing since there is supposed to be really bad weather tomorrow and don't want to risk my hardware. So laptop and scrivener it is for tomorrow, mostly. So that's kind of that about the progress...

 


And then a merchant and a difficult customer, and I don't mean Tomas in this case. And then as a bonus, daily motivational render...

I've been in a mood to render dragons recently. At times I hope the certain elements were there before I started ToaM as some of the things would be a bit different from they are. Although that doesn't mean I'm unhappy with the things I've put in already. Can I change things? To a point, yes, certain stylistic changes are plausible. But it's more interesting to weave the additional things and potential changes in.

And also about the hidden images, since there have been a few questions about them. They are, more or less, canonical things. Some of them have happened in the past, some are happening "now". I'm trying to figure out how to show their titles in the secrets gallery, but might need to add them manually, would explain some of the images a bit better. The one in 0.15.0 is called "A deal was made" now you can wonder about that >.>

Progress 20.05.2024

Hello all!

So the rendering. I'm further along than I expected, rendering was smooth despite my doubts with the time it took built the sets and daz crashing at wrong point.

Writing? I'm... mostly happy with it. I'm half a page missing from my goal but that's because I've not been happy with the last couple of pages and have rewritten them couple of times by now. Well I'll take a final look at that troublesome spot tonight and just keep writing. It will sort itself out eventually.

New people, the Northern Masters. And some schemes to unfold. It has been interesting update to render over all.

Progress 17.05.2024

Hello all!

Friday! And progress post. The rollout of the 0.14.0 has gone so far better than I expected. At least haven't been flooded with errors, yet. But... yeah it's a mess for some reason for some people. No idea why, it isn't that different code wise from TRS1, Sorcerer and TRS2. Well fingers crossed more stuff doesn't pop up. And which is the most irritating part that it just doesn't break on my end, so I can't fix things ahead of time. Although there isn't exactly anything to fix since all the variable it usually complains about are defined. But for some reason it just doesn't want to update them... Anyway done rambling.

Rendering is in an okay spot. I'm not entirely happy with it, but script wise I'm more or less where I should be. Probably will be a day or so later than I thought, but eh, happens.

As for writing? It's going, I have a scene that I don't really care for to write, but it's needed just in case somehow someone manages to end up in that path. But beyond that, the writing flow is decent. Although the previous updated did mess up the rhythm a bit I'll get back to it sooner or later.

The naga's have some decisions to make regarding things. Several in fact. Certain tones can help to decipher (in 0.16.0) how the relationship is building with them.

Progress 13.05.2024

Hello all!

Update 14 was sent to proofread and tested. And boy... it was a... problematic. I was able to play through it normally several times. One tester with one save hit all kinds of problems, just because. Those should be sorted and things are working out right now, but be prepared to load an older save if possible. I make no guarantees with it at the moment.

Beyond that? Started rendering update 0.15.0, no surprises there. Should be somewhat quicker than 0.14.0... and I probably jinxed it now.

As for writing? I'll finish 0.18.0 of tonight, had some issues that needed my attention over the weekend, unfortunately so it got side tracked. But it isn't anything too problematic overall, it's just one and half pages.

So as you can imagine group is back together and we are going to have a bit of a chat with Rielle during the night. Anyway, back to do stuff...

So what the fuck is the SHA256? It's a checksum. I'll provide one from now on, it can be used to check if the file is corrupted (or altered if you download from somewhere else). 

If you don't know how to do it, you can safely ignore it if you download from the links I've provided. If you download it from somewhere else, you can use it to check if the file is the same as mine. Also note, you don't need to download anything to check it, Windows (and linux and MacOs most likely, android no idea but don't go downloading any random apps for it either) has tools to check it. Unfortunately you need to use powershell to check it. But again, it can be ignored as long as you download from the links I've provided in this blog or discord. Progress 10.05.2024

Hello all.

Bleh. This week has been... interesting. So let's get into it. Rendering is still going. I'm at 500 renders according to the render library and I have three scenes left to do, and the last one is around 60 renders. And then paired with mother's day it's safe to say this update will come a couple days later than normally. Although, I might need to do some coding things to break that one scene down since it's... long. Eh, things. Although, this makes me rethink how I do a few things... Could I have done the long scene differently? On a hindsight, yes.

Writing is chugging along, it is roughly where it is supposed to be at this time of the cycle, but I don't have those extra days to finish it up. But it will be there, just need to write between renders is all.

Yay... a progress render. Slight spoiler, but nothing too bad, really. I mean, you know it is coming since the alternative would be... something else. And this is what I mean with the "railroading" comment some time ago. I would have loved to make branch here, but more I looked into the future it didn't make much sense to add the branching here. Not because it would have meant more work, but because it makes more sense to go with this line as it allows shaping things. That and you still can mess things up with them. I still plan to add branching, just need to find the right spot for it.

Anyway, I'll return to render things. I swear this is going to be 600 render update just because... But that being said. You all have a great weekend!

Progress 06.05.2024

Hello all!

So what's up? Rendering is going. I'm not entirely sure is in a good or bad place since there are a ton of renders to do. I'm already shy under 300 renders, but a lot of posing. Might take a bit longer to make the update, but renders take the time they take. Although not entirely happy about lightning but it's a bit too late to change that. Eh, I'll live. At least things can be seen clearly.

Writing is in decent shape. I hoped it would have been a bit further than it is, but I managed to figure out how to do it while rendering and not straining my brain too much. But beyond that? It's okay.

So, this was my "daily motivational render" for today, something aren't suitable to be shown in public, but point! However, I didn't do this just for the sake of doing a pretty render of some sort. The tails... nVidia finally did a decent hair shader that doesn't eat a ton of resources. The scene with emperor and empress in their throne room? It isn't heavy scene as is, but because how the dForce hair shader was done before it ate tons of resources. I think that particular scene was 24GB+ VRAM, and at best it should have been 16 GB. With the new shader I can work with the tails as it takes less than half of the resources it used to. Although I'll have a nervous break down with posing those tails. But I'll cross that bridge if the writing takes me there.

So this it for today, I'll know how much more I need to render on Friday. Writing hopefully should be close to be done by then since I don't think I'll get the two days I usually take to write. Eh another bridge to cross when I get there.

Progress 03.04.2024

Hello all!

Friday, and you know what that means. A progress post.

I’m not entirely sure I’m where I’m supposed to be at the moment. Render count wise yes? Relation to the script? It’s close enough, but not quite there yet. But overall it has gone well more or less well. The difficult scene took three days to render, which is what I suspected. Granted, there is one more complex scene to do still, but it’s one of those things that should be relatively easy after the initial setups.

Writing is in a bit phase because of the difficult render, but most of the scenes are plotted so it’s just filling the gaps but more about that below. And I’m not worried about the writing as is.

Gweyr is more front in this update, but it is more natural since we are dealing with matters she knows more about than the rest. And we see bits of her personal ambitions showing, and they can be interesting depending a bit of things.

Months ago I made a test render that had a goblin stealing a dinosaur egg. It was just that, a test render for the environment, mostly. I really didn’t think too much about it while I made it, nor after it, really. But what I’m writing and plotting now it suddenly made sense. Although unless I can create a male goblin to a similar style that I have my females, there will be a huge contrast between them. But that can be plausible as well. And that is one of the limitations that Daz has with Genesis 8. I could switch to G9, but it has a couple of other problems I’m not a fan of. Namely, it is quite heavy to render and in the style I’m doing?

But overall I’m content with the progress, just need to write a bit more. Which I can do now since the scene of what I’m doing now is relatively simple to do. Anyway, you all have a great weekend!
